I am studying for my midterm in my western civilization class. In order to study, im essentially taking the test by writing out who, what, when, where,how and why the term is importent to history in a short paragraph like the test. Pharoh:
The Pharoh was the king of Ancient Egypt beginning in the 28th Century BCE. The word itself comes from the Ancient Egyptian words meaning Great House, a reflection of the Egyptian reverance for the office. The pharoh was considered the child of Re, the sun god, and used this concept to ligitimize his rule. Because of this the pyramids and temples were built both to honor the pharohs and provide a burial place. Before you do anything, learning to spell "Pharaoh" is probably advisable.
