I'm a senior in high school and I'm going to see a recruiter tomorrow. I have been looking into either Cryptology or Intelligence. I am thinking about a CTR or CTT. But I've read somewhere that a CTT is just maintenance. But I don't want to just fix things. I actually want to be involved in the "mission".
Can anyone tell me the difference between a CTM and CTT

T Branch are operators. They used to be called "EW's" Electronic Warfare Technicians.
M Branch are maintenance and repair.
Navy EW and CTT Ratings Merge
By Rod Powers, About.com GuideOctober 22, 2003
In an effort to leverage the strength of two key intelligence ratings, while streamlining the collection and processing training pipeline, the electronic warfare technician (EW) rating recently merged with cryptologic technician - technical (CTT). Conversion of all EWs to the CTT designator is already underway, creating an elite community of about 3,000 technicians.
I worked with CT's on exchange with the Canadian Forces. From what I remember, T branchers were technicians, and M were maintenance? Something like that. We worked mostly with R branchers, who were what we called "operators." They are the ones doing the mission work. Mostly Direction Finding, but, when the came to Canada, we would let them do other things. I am not sure of the extent of R branch work in the USA.
Hey I'm a senior in highschool also and I have already sworn into the CTT rating. If you want to talk to me I'll give you my number
