Hey
im 19 and i was like 14 turning 15 when i had mine done.
My mum took me there but it took alot of effort for her to do that.
What happens it that they get like this thing that grabs the bit of skin in your belly button. Then they mark the hole with a texter. Then they get a needle and put it straight through. It didnt hurt that much it hurts more like the 2nd or 3rd day. Then they take the needle out and screw in the ring or barbell. i had a ring done and it would always twist and twist. i would recommend a barbell so that it dosent twist too much. also expect a bit of puss to come out. thats normal. but if it starts to stink or hurt. then see the person that did it immediatly. always clean it with the lotion they give you and eventually you will have to clean it with listerine ( mouthwash) and then salt water. its take a few months to fully heel.
you can try hiding it by wearing loose fittting tops for the first few weeks.
be sure to take good care of it so your parents dont have to take you to the hospital and find out.
maybe get it done with a friend so you can both lean on each other.
i wouldnt recommend hiding it from your parents but then again i dont know them. i know what its like to really want one at your age too.
so do what your heart tells you.
I was told when I had it done that it took 6 months to even a year to totally heal depending on your body.
Please think about it though- If you are an athlete and have to wear a uniform (where you sweat) you will have to really really really ensure that you are cleaning it and washing immediately after practice/games.
I played Field hockey and the kilt sat right on my belly button, even though I cleaned it and washed, I got a severe infection from the inside out and ended up having to go to the doctors- I was a rare person that ended up with a cyst b/c of it that I still have today. And if that happened to you- your parents would definately find out.
So...instead of my belly button looking cute- I have a scar and bump from my now removed cyst.
As an alternative- they do have non pierced belly rings that you could wear until your 18.
you can hide it .defintely but if your gonna get it profesional which you should ou need parents permission
saftey dont go to deep in
suggestions do the pircing on the top of you navel
I'm sorry but as a mother I would recommend that you not get your naval pierced. Honey, it doesn't really look as good as you think it will and there is a chance of infection. The only thing I would allow my daughter to get pierced is her ears.
