i'm comparing my laptop which is an acer to a VAIO. and were both playing one file(movie) and the quality on his laptop is way better than mine, and it's brighter, eventhough my laptop's screen is Crystalbright and his is older than mine and isn't WXGA.
do you think this problem is for my media player(ex, the settings may be different) or it is my screen? and how can i solve it?
Update:the ACER one's screen is wide screen and is bright WXGA but the VAIO one is neither.

it's neither the screen nor the player. the player could make a minimal difference. what really makes the difference is the Graphic Card that is installed in the laptop. by the way out of curiosity which system has the better display? and this is something to bear in mind the next time you need to make a PC purchase.
Possibly a difference in the video card. One thing you can do is check the display settings and see if you have a different resolution set on the ACER than on the Sony. Also check the brightness settings on the display.
the bigger question is if there is more vram in a certain player and regular ram....most current laptops have minimum of 128vram(vid ram)
here's a link on ebay that you can read reviews of them by ebay members
