We are travelling British Airways from London to Chennai. We are wondering if we can use our play yard as a carry on. Anyone else travelled with a small baby, he'll be 10 months when we travel.
We are also planning on taking our stroller, as a carry on.

According to BA this is their carry on guideline:
The maximum size of the bag, 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in) has been set in line with the UK Department for Transport recommendations
The stroller can go as a gate claim item, thats fine, but if the pack and play is larger than above, which they usually are, you will have to check it. Just remember even travelling with a child you have a 2 piece carry on limit per person. If they are travelling as a lap child you and your husband or travel partner are allowed 2 pieces each, your purse and diaper bag are each seperate and counted as one.
When you get to the gate, check in with the gate agent right away and have your stoller tagged. Ask if you can pre-board so that you will have time to get situated with out 200 people behind you. Have the stroller folded down when you reach the end of the jet way. The stroller will then be placed under the aircraft in the "bulk bin" cargo hold. When you arrive at your transfer point or destination, check the item throughly for damage. Wheels have been known to break off in flight. These items are not secured and are usually just tossed up in the bin. Some airlines will have a sand bag or two around them to keep them from rolling about the bin, but its not always done. If you have a cheap stroller or umbroller, take that instead of the baby limosine if you'd prefer. But again, check it over good before you leave the jet way. If it is damaged the airline will reimburse you.
Keep in mind overhead bins are not designed for each person to take one bin. You are entited to basically 1/3 the space. Dont wait until you get to the gate to be told the item is too large. Some government agencies have placed policies that you can not voluntarily gate check an item unless it is a stroller or assitive device like a wheel chair.
Below is the link for BA and their baggage allowance. Read this throughly and go by what they state. Im a former gate agent and it can be hard to get people to understand these are federal regulations that we have to enforce. Airlines will encure heavy fines if caught allowing passengers on with oversized items.
Enjoy your flight!!!
Also, have the baby drink a bottle on take off and landing so that they can equilize their ears. You can also give a decongestant before the flight. Dont be surprised if they end up with an ear infection when you arrive or after the trip. They cant relieve the pressure in their ears like we can, so have them drink when they can.
My son was 18 months old when we traveled from ohio to texas. I used his stroller for the airport and then checked it at the gate. if possible I would check the play yard as luggage through baggage claim. This way you have less to carry. You already have the baby, the stroller and his diaper bag
No problems with the stroller/baby 10 months old, and the play yard BUT they will not let you play with it during the flight
Convincing your acquaintances about a made up tale for 0.5 a three hundred and sixty 5 days isn't a lengthy time period comic tale. Convincing your acquaintances about a made up tale for 0.5 a three hundred and sixty 5 days is pathological mendacity. How can they trust something you're saying to any extent further? how are you going to be acquaintances in the experience that they can't trust you?
oh, yes, we just travelled with ours, and it was great, just checked it like luggage. You should find the airline very accomodating! Good Luck! ( ps, you can't use them as a carry on, you have to check them)
