i got about a 10hour drive to do, and my cat just whines and cries the whole time, its annoying!, someone said to sedate the cat so it does not cause alot of problems, any fix?
When we went on a 2 week vacation, I gave my adult Siamese male 1/4 of a dramamine tablet. EACH MORNING...1 hour before leaving. Made sure he ate / peed & pooped before leaving, and he slept most of every day. He was awake & alert ( playing ) each evening when we stopped. He had NO ill effects from the Dramamine.....at all.
A healthy adult cat can have 12.5 mgs of Dramamine.........Dramamine comes in 50 mg tablets, so 1/4 tablet is 12.5 mgs............
As someone else mentioned.......make him a bed ( IN A CARRIER ), and put one of your "worn" shirts in there with him. Between the shirt & the Dramamine, he should be fine for the 10 hour trip. Cats sleep most of the day, anyway, so it's not going to hurt him to NOT EAT, drink or pee/poop for that length of time. Just be sure that you have him INSIDE, with all doors closed, before you let him out, at the new place........and have his food, water & litter box nearby AT THAT TIME.....
Hope this helps........and you & your kitty have an enjoyable ( quiet ) trip.......Good luck..
Do you have a cat bed? They have such soft, cuddly beds now. How about a pet stroller, so when you stop you can take the cat for a nice walk. The fresh air may make her/him sleep longer.
What cats and dogs don't usually like is the constant sound of the motor, most likely the vibration and noise make them think there is something wrong with their hearing or their body (meow, why and I vibrating??). Put her in a cage or area with cat mattress or pillows under her to lesten this and cover her with one of your tshirts so she knows you are with her.
