I've been getting muscle cramps in my lower leg. (No, I'm not pregnant.) I think I heard somewhere that it is a sign I am not getting enough calcium. Or is it potassium? Can anyone tell me what it is I'm not getting enough of? Or can you tell me how to prevent them? They are very painful!

i had a problem after i had my son. the bottoms of my legs hurt so bad and so did my feet. i t was basically my knees down. if i would even get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. i would almost cry my feet and legs hurt so bad, but then it got to when i was walking up the stairs at my job, i felt like i was going to pass out from the pain in my knee area and right below. honestly i felt like i was 70 instead of 26! i went to the doctor and found out the baby had taken so much of my calcium and other nutrients, that my body was just deprived of them. so i got on a multi vitamin that has calcium,, etc, and within a week i felt better, 2-3 weeks, no problems at all. give this a try, if it doesnt work, go to the doctor... hope this helps.. good luck.
you're probably not getting enough salt or exercise. those cramps may be charlie horses, or growing pains, (depending on your age) when you get those cramps, say in your right leg, stand on your right leg only and see if it goes away. if it doesnt, take some aspirin and exercise a little. good luck.
Try taking calcium with vit D. It`ll help.
