It depends. I have learn some basic conversational words through music videos and variety shows. The music videos don't help as much as the variety shows, but I still suggest learning from a native Korean or online classes.
You must learn the Korean alphabet because that is the rudimentary fundamental for Korean. (I'm not kidding. A lot of Koreans get messed up with writing hangul too...)
I haven't taken any classes because I watch dramas and variety shows frequently, but I still haven't learnt much.
One time, I was asked something in Korean by this grandmother, and I was just like... "O.O I'm sorry, I don't speak Korean." Then she looked at me with the same expression, so I thought of all the Korean words I learned and spewed out, "Hangul anniyo (I am not Korean)." At least I think that is what it means... She understood me and walked away. :D
So I suggest you do take free online classes. There are videos online for beginners also! :D
It is best to at least go over the basic details on the language before anything else. If you really want to learn how to speak fluently, then get someone who knows how to speak Korean. I only know one person who speaks Korean fluently, but I am away from where she is, so it is kinda unfortunate for me, but I learned basic conversational Korean from watching Korean shows like Star Golden Bell, or Strong Heart... Your choice entirely.
You're able to learn the basics of the Korean language through kpop, but I wouldn't say you'd learn enough to be able to be left in Seoul, Korea alone and be able to speak to korean people fluently lol.
No.
It's best to learn through websites that actually go into detail about those things.
Pop music won't show you conjugations, the levels of formal speech, ect.
You CAN use music to help you learn though, in terms of vocab, listening and reading.
No, without some reading and studying it will just be noise. It would be a great aid to learning online though, a fun way to practice your listening skills and a chance to hear native speakers talking.
