I have large quadricep muscles and some fat i guess. it seems that whenever i exercise them they get bigger and more muscley. what should i do to make them thinner?
Update:Also, i would say that i am fairly healthy. i make sure to get fruits and vegetables daily and all i drink is coffee tea and water. I also do dance and ride my bike daily. im only fifteen and weigh 135 pounds, its not that i want to loose weight necessarily i wouldnt mind it if thats what it takes but my main goal is just to slim my legs.

In many cases people who work out to loose mass end up getting bigger, most because of what they eat and the techniques they use to exercise. Im putting it like this, POWERLIFTING VS. BODYBUILDING. Powerlifters go for bulk and strength, while the bodybuilder goes for definition.
They could do the same exercises and have completely different results due to the techniques used to do the exercise. My husband, is a powerlifter, and believe me, hulk hogan doesnt look big standing next to him. He is a serious powerlifter and he competes to be the best. When my husband goes to a weightlifting meet, his goal is to lift as much weight as he can, but he doesnt do it over and over, like the bodybuilder. If you keep your fatty foods, carbs and sodium to a minimum or not all you should not gain weight as long you exercise, how could you right? That makes me think you are exercising your legs more like the powerlifter instead of the bodybuilder, what i am trying to say is maybe you arent doing your exercises correctly, you should look it up or shout out to someone online who is into the fitness scene or something similar and they should be able to tell you how to trim your body the way you want. I used my husband as the example because i used too and i had the same problem as you, the one area i was trying to get in shape and get smaller was getting bigger, that's right, i was getting a FAT ***. He saw the way I was doing squats and we solved that mystery. I was standing with my legs spread apart too far and he informed me that in order to get the result i wanted i would have to stand with my legs closer together, and he was right, and i am not a fat ***. Im thinking your dilemma may have more to do with your technique. Find out the correct way to do the exercise and the correct exercise to achieve your desired results. I hate to see someone do all that work for nothing, nothing that you want anyway, and its very frustrating for the person doing it, (as i am sure you know) but don't give up it may just be something as simple as you are doing it wrong, good luck keep up the hard work.
I have been struggling with this problem for years, and there is a couple things that have helped. Well during my workout I do squats to start out, then I run. Running is very good to burn extra calories and eventually fat as well. So I run and walk, I do intervals of each. If your like me in any way you can't continuously run. Thats why intervals are good for me, and could definitely be in your favor as well. Anyway, then during my walking lap I do butt squeezes, these of course help your butt but I'm always so sore in my legs too. Then during my next walking lap, i do lunges. These are the key to your leg workout, I love doing these. You feel immediate results, and when you can't do them anymore you know your doing them right. Try to get your knees to touch the ground almost but don't put them all the way to the ground. Then, at the school wellness room they have a machine that you pull your legs apart and it works the inside of your thighs. That machine gives great results too. I would also try to knell on a yoga type mat and put your elbows on the mat also then one by one take your legs and straighten them out. I'll attach a link to the exercises that I'm talking about below.
Good luck, I hope this works for you :)

Choco's answer of "no carbs" is horribly wrong. Carbs = energy. Without carbs, you won't be able to function.
That being said, don't do anything that would gain a ton more muscle, like any type of leg weight-machines at the gym. Instead, run. If you don't like running outside, the treadmill is great as well.
okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess toxins in your blood or fat to lose weight ,,,,,do as follows:
Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly)
eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a food/rice steamer to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods, at first,,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink water . If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken.
also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise.
* you should lose about 10 lbs per month
