My boyfriend got a 10 week old puppy saturday (10-29-11). All the puppy wants to do is play when we are trying to sleep. We want him to learn that when the lights go out and we are in bed that its bed time for him also. He also hasn't really went to the restroom in the house either. He would cry when he wants out but sometimes I cant get to him fast enough so he went to the restroom like 5 times in the house since we had him. Am i doing the right thing when he crys to take him outside?
PLEASE HELP ME!
Thanks,
Hannah & Dalton

Yes, when a dog stands by the door, he does want out and u should let him out. When puppies r little they want to play all the time, but as they grow older and if u train them right, they'll settle down. When the dog does something wrong, u have to look at it and MAKE SURE its paying attention to u, tell him "No, wrong" it may seem too stern but trust me, it works. We trained my dog and he was great! when you can, go out and play with it 15 or so minutes at a time. lots of play will help them settle down faster (at least for awhile) and help them grow stronger, because they have lots of exercise. You can buy dogs treats and when he does something good like if u say sit and he sits, give him a treat. After teaching him a trick for a couple weeks (continuous), try having him sit without seeing that he is going to get a treat. Eventually after a couple months or so (if i remember correctly), he should be trained pretty well. You can take them on walks maybe at least once a day, and let them experience the outside world. For the light thing, well. Your just have to tell him, "stay, time for bed". If he walks around all night, you might want to try leaving him outside - he could be at outside dog. You can buy him chew, tug o war, ball, and bone toys. This will occupy his time. Almost forgot, you can buy a sour apple spray (prob. at Petco or Petsmart), to spray in his mouth every time he does something bad or whines. It trains them well. The biggest thing of all ~make sure he gets lots of love all the time~ Hope this helps!
You have to understand that your pet is a puppy, therefore he is a baby. You can't train him to understand what time bedtime is, so just get used to it. You just got him a few days ago, you can't expect him to not go to the bathroom inside. Yes, if you think his crying is him letting you know he has to use the bathroom then bring him outside. Training takes a long time. Your puppy won't be trained in just a few days.
just give him an old rubber footwear... he will be busy chewing it.. but dis idea doesent work for long.... i also faced d same problem. but according to my xperience he will sutomatically learn to sleep at d ni8 tym... he will b troubling u for a month... so b ready n dont forget to give him an old footwear
