Unfortunately, it is hard to find healthy choices on most school's lunch menus. You would be better off bringing at least part of your own lunch:
1. Salad with chicken, or turkey
2. Turkey, chicken or tuna (with tomato, lettuce or cucumbers) on whole wheat bread or pita bread
3. Vegetable soup in a small thermos
4. Baked chips, whole wheat crackers, flavored applesauce, baby carrots, raisins, dried fruit, cereal bars or unsalted nuts for a snack
If you get a thermal lunch bag, you can add a small reusable ice pack and bring yogurt, drinks and any other items that need to be refrigerated.
Unfortunately, a lot of times when we are trying to eat healthy, you have to plan to bring some of your own food. It does take extra time because it is not "fast food" - but it is definitely worth it!
Honestly??? School lunches are full of preservatives so the healthiest thing you could probably eat from the cafeteria is an apple or banana... or whatever fruit they serve.
Try packing your lunch. Stay away from white bread (go with whole grain), maybe a granola bar, celery or carrots, and milk and.or water. Oh... and use turkey or chicken if your gonna make a sandwich. Also, I would like to add that I have read that the best natural weight loss plan is to consume a lot of fiber. I buy that Benefiber stuff that you can put in anything.
