So tomorrow I'm going to fly in cheerleading.
When I fly I get so nervous and start shaking and my mom says the look on my face is expressionless, and a little bit horrified. I trust my bases 110 & because they've based for 6 years. And I don't care if I fall cuz the floor is bouncy, and it doesn't hurt much. >:D
We don't smile when we fly. No one does and I don't want to look weird :P But I DON'T want to look scared either! :(
Any tips for balance, not shaking, and not being so scared?
Update:110 % not & :P

Lock it out. That's what my coach always tells us. and SMILE no one will think you're weird you're supposed to smile! If they laugh wink and make them laugh more but in the end you're still the cutest :).
Also to lock it out all you do is push your knee back and the sharper you hit your motions the less you'll shake. Also don't look down if you look down you go down. If your bases don't know that your heel is higher than your toe it makes you more balanced.
Squeeze your butt! That sounds weird, but just squeeze everywhere. It should definitely help, all I think about when I'm flying is squeezing and staying really tight, and I'm solid as a rock, I don't wobble at all. My bases say I feel like I'm ten pounds when they put me up, it makes it SO much easier on them and you. And as for your facial expression, I would just say just smile a little with your mouth closed, so it won't look like you're smiling and you won't look weird, but you won't look nervous or expressionless. Hope this helps!! Email me if you have other cheer questions!!
Remember to squeeze, squeeze, squeeze that butt! Staying tight is very important, I can't stress this enough, most cheerleading accidents happen because people aren't tight. Also try not to lean forward, you'll lose your balance and will fall foward. Also, if there's something off in the distance like a clock or picture or trophy or something of the sort, then look at that, it will help you balance.
go to flight school or a class for flyers it helps get you used to going straight up and being tight. And to the other question you asked I said to have your arms crossed in your cradle because for level 5 teams when your doing kick doubles its easier to fly like that instead of opening your arms because you hit your basers. It depends on your level sorry if i didn't make that clear. when you go into the air to fly dont heel or toe push all your weight down on the ball of your foot( the middle)
Unfortunately its just something you have to get used to. Look at a certain fixed point at eye level and you'll be concentrated on that instead of your height. Keep tight too!
Right when you go up LOCK your legs completely. Lock your arms. Lock everything. (: and trust me, Smile. Instead of looking different then the other flyers..you'll look the best(:
