I don't think they would be as successful as they deserve. People now don't know what real rap is. They just go with mainstream things but don't look for lyrics like they should. A lot of rappers now are just a disappointment. Like Hurricane Chris and Soulja Boy. Compare their lyrics to any older rapper, and they crumble. I been listenin to rap my whole life, and a lot of rappers now are just a disgrace.
Deffinitely if they challenged a rapper today they would win an MC battle, if it was set on lyrics, not status. Even I can burn rappers today in a freestyle easily, a lot of people can cause they aren't like older, real rappers.
previous college rap replaced into new and thrilling and not "performed out" as maximum of tunes now are.. rap has stalled in it truly is progression and is only no longer a protracted term dominant form ordinarily through fact it bought out to the bling bliners who esentially flooded the marketplace with troops of the comparable SORRY FACES all performing out some ridiculous and unrealistic photograph.. and prefer I mentioned.. that form of stuff in no way lasts.. the music marketplace is familiar with it so i think of it had each purpose of merchandising hip hop out rapid.. quickly it is going to falter and each and all of the toddlers who now like it is going to pass back to raving.. I grew up interior the hip hop scene.. yet i'd start up raving quickly too..
no because the crownd who listened to them may not be relevant to rap anymore. hip-hop is dominated by 14-17 yo's who know nuttin about the early 90's late 80's raps of KRS-1, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane. their idea of rappers are lil mama, soulja boy, and the rest of the ringtone posse.
old school can be successful I guess if they change up their style up I guess but I think the rappers today would win.
