60s. Guys wearing leather, girls wearing dresses

with hoola-hoop. A type of Fonzy thing. Let your

mind run free. Also, the twist and a bubble gum

contest.

A lady i work with turned 60 last year and her family presented her with 60 gifts...some were very nice, while other were gag gifts or photos or other family memory type things. She really thought it was a cool idea and loved all her gifts.

Might be fun to present a this is your life type thing...have his friends talk about some of the memories and fun things they have done over the years...or work on a scrap book, have guest supply photos or other bits of memorabilia and have guest sign the book.

Might want to include stuff from the year he was born, bring in music he likes to hear...play games...there are web sites with party game ideas.

Another thing I have heard of is card showers...contact all the friends you can think of and have them send him a card. Might be a neat way to hear from old friends.

One thing we did when my dad turned 70 was rent a beach house and had a party for him there...something like that is always an option.

You have known your dad for a while. You know what he likes and that is what you should relate this to. If you want it less expensive, take him to his faveorite restaruantswith his friends. If you want it more expensive, you can take him to his faveorite state or island, any vacation spot actually. Just make sure you have a good plan. But don't go with a suprise party, he might have a heart attack, trust me.

Find out about things that were current the day and year he was born. For example, the cost of a loaf of bread, gallon of gas, etc.

Everyone will love this and you can jokingly remind him of when he used to say stuff like "when I was a kid..."

for my dads 60th, they all brought gag gifts and told their funniest story they had on him. he pretty much enjoyed talking to them and catching up on old times. not much more that he would want or need. but my dad loves to joke and tease so it was right up his alley.
