Hi
So last week I pulled the code P0036 on my 4cylinder, and it said the sensor was from bank 1 sensor 2, the downstream sensor, so I replaced it, and the light came back on. Any ideas of what it could be? Or any details would be great
Thanks

P0036 is O2S Heater Control Circuit. This is powered separately from the sensor element itself but since heater power is shared by both O2 sensors and it isn't flagging the upstream sensor I'd assume the SNSR fuse (10A) in the engine room fuse block is ok but you can still check it. Since you've replaced the sensor itself and assuming the fuse is good you're looking at a wiring or ECM issue. The ECM applies a pulse width modulated signal to the heater to control sensor temperature. Basically it's pulling the low side of the sensor to ground in controlled pulses, the width of those pulses controls the heat output. On the vehicle side of the wire harness at the sensor disconnect (4 pin connector) the sensor power wire is Orange, the ECM switched ground is White with a Black stripe. A meter should show power on orange and some voltage in between 0 and 12V on the white/black if things are working correctly (sensor in circuit, not just reading the open end of the vehicle side.) The meter is reading a PWM so the reading will vary as the pulse width does. A 50% duty cycle PWM will show source voltage / 2 on most meters unless they can show PWM duty cycle specifically. If the meter shows near battery voltage at the white/black at the sensor disconnect there's an issue with the pull down side (wiring or ECM) preventing the ECM from pulling the low side of the heater circuit to ground. Check the disconnect for corrosion, weak pin tension, and check nearby wiring for "critter damage" (chewed wires) if you live in an area with rodents or other wildlife.
Hi
no and i bet no one but a hyundai dealer know either, one of my mates has a tester which tells him which codes mean what but at 7000 pounds for the tester he does not give out that sort of information as it cost him money.
