Since your husband is Catholic, he is required to raise his children Catholic. If you were married in church, this would have been discussed prior to marriage.
It depends on what church you plan to attend and raise your child in.
In the Catholic Church you need to have you baby baptized and the Godparents need to be baptized Catholics. It would be helpful if they were actually practicing Catholics as well. They take a vow to help raise the child in the faith.
In the Protestant church ( I was raised Methodist) it's called Christening. You choose Godparents but I don't think they have to be baptized or even the faith the child is being brought into. But again, it would help since they are promising to be a part of the child's religious instruction.
The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. They'll give your baby a good home and even if he lives perfect live, he'll get to go to heaven where there are beer volcanoes, the streets are covered with chocolate fudge and there is a Hooters in every block (you know, the same concept as the churches in the Bable Belt...)
Most Protestant churches have abandoned the original Christian custom of baptizing infants. If you belong to one of those Protestant churches, the only place you can have your baby baptized is in the Catholic Church. When he married you he agreed to raise his/your children in the Catholic faith. If he is going to be faithful to that promise, he is expected to baptise the baby in the Catholic Church.
tell your husband to get away from the catholic cult and then choose protestant church going god parents !! a protestant is someone that does not want to be controlled by the catholics so if your husband is catholic you must get him to change !!
My grandmother was catholic and my grandfather was protestant
But...
My grandparents came to this conclusion:
JESUS SAID HE IS THE ONLY TRUTH
therefore , they believed the church was created by followers of Jesus but not Jesus as Jesus said the only truth is him and the word which he claimed he inspired..
When Jesus was on earth he never created a church, all that he asked of man was to repent from sin and to never commit it again and to believe his words ..
since JESUS said that the only truth is his word and himself, my grandparents preferred JESUS and turned to his word instead.
JESUS IS THE ONLY TRUTH IN THIS WORLD AND WE CAN GET TO KNOW HIM THROUGH HIS WORD..
JESUS SAID IT!!
Remember: The bible claims that the true church is our heart when we believe in jesus and trust his word and repent from sin and follow him for ever.
Talk to your Pastor and Priest if you go to different churches and make your decision based on what they say. Also make sure your will states what your intentions are for who you want to take care of your kids if something happens to both of you.
it is his duty as a Catholic to raise the child Catholic. they are called godparents. they have to both be Catholic and promise to teach the child the faith.
