first start out by testing ur 200m at full speed to see where u r at. then u could do many type of routines that can help improve your time. most important is your funning form, get that down and ull shave time off ur pr. i run the 400 and 200 and to help me train what i do is run stadium stairs, do a 400,300,200,100 at as fast as u can go while staying in control, this is around 80-90%. also get used to the event by running eight 200s. also a good burn out of 6-10 100s will do.
hi i am also in track and this year will be my third year doing it, i run hurdles, 400, 4x100, and i also run 200. in my opinion the 200 is the easiest because it is not too long that you get so tired out but short enough to go your fastest the whole way through. obviously the fastest you can go is the fastest you can run so just run your fastest and you ll be fine. As far as training goes in practice you will probably be doing training so every thing you do don't think this is not even going to help because it does and it obviously wont help the first time you do it it takes persistence so go your hardest every time you run even if you are so tired because that is the time when you get your stamina up. and lastly it is extremely important to not drink soda or eat junk food during track season it will help tremendously
i hope you like my answer and good luck with track!!!
weight training will definatly help but dont do it during the season. Squats, deadlifts, strength training drills will help big time if you dont over do it. Work on your stride and form. Do repitition workouts at a track . like 400 meter reapeats,200 meter repeats, 100 meter repeats. ne thing more than 400 meters wont help that much when training for a 200 m dash.
When your running the 200.
You want to lean in the theturn and
pump your arms really hard to make your legs go faster!!
and just over all pratice hard and start running now becasue track isnt till spring!
Start going to you're school's track, and running sprints. Best way, just go run it.
