First day started potty training with my daughter she is 21 1/2 months old. She had two accidents within a 20 minute period. She knew she peeped because she cried once she had the accident. I feel like she is aware she has to go, but how do I know.

Hi
This always happens the first day don't give up the first day talk to her and sit her down a couple of
times a day. She is probably very nervous but that is normal. From my experience that could happen the first day then the next day they can sit all day on the potty and keep everything in being afraid to let loose. However by the third day she will start to get a hang of it. I would say not to give up before trying at least for a week.
"I feel like she is aware she has to go" but does she tell you?!?! In guessing no
Firstly you should be getting child to be able to actually give you a sign that they understand they need to go rather than just taking the nappy off
Starting too early which I believe you're doing will only add to stresses and accidents
Talk to her. Ask her if she needs the toilet but at this point she's still way too young
Too early back off. When it is time to toilet TEACH you only need to explain what you expect, practice a few days and it is OVER. If it doesn't work that way you started too soon. This should not be work, there should be no tears and no frustration. This will happen when she is ready not you, grandma or the neightor lady. Trust me, I've done this nine times.

Please listen to these women, when she's ready it will be EASY.
I promise, she's not ready yet, you are. Forcing her to use the toilet is going to make potty training months long and tiresome.
I took my daughter less than a week. She was ready and it was a breeze.
I would try a reward system. Tell her that everytime she goes pee you will give her a piece of her favorite candy; and everytime she goes poo you will give her two pieces. If she makes progress then you know that she knows when she has to go. If not then she might have bladder issues and not know until she is wet. Good luck potty training.
