I had a boyfriend who did that with me. He was lovey in private, but practically ignored me around other people. I thought it was because he didn't feel comfortable when people were watching, which partly, it was true. But then also, when it was around other people or even in private, I would look at him but he would look away like he didn't want to look back. Turns out, he really wasn't that into me, but was only after one thing. Next time you're with him, either in public or private, sincerely look him in the eye and watch his eyes, they are the windows to the soul.
i'm guessing he's pretty young, right? that's normal. guys at that age think that they have to be some kind of a pimp and not be nice to their ladies when others are around. however, just cuz i said that's normal, it doesn't mean that it should be tolerated, it's just to be expected is what i mean. so, find a way to fix it. call him out--tell him he's a coward for acting that way.
He may be shy or extremely self-conscious. It's difficult to completely change the way you think about yourself, no matter what others may tell you. What you see is what you know. What others see is what others know. As long as he's loyal and loving to you, it shouldn't be a big problem, should it?

maybe him being normal is what u see around other people.... but u should just tell him it bothers you when he acts like that
Tell him get with the program and act right...you do not have time for all that drama..Keep it real
Ask him about it and if he can't answer you straight, then dump him.
