I have a deep connection with that name (my first ever performance that lead me to my musical path) and I was wondering if you saw a little girl named that what would be your opinions?
IDK, you might just let people call her Cindy for short though.
With all the names that celebrities give their kids, it almost doesn't sound very weird. But I've never even heard of someone adopting that name for their kid. It would definitely draw attention even if respectfully.
I think she would almost certainly be bullied with a name like that. Plus she is less likely to be taken seriously as an adult. Instead, how about giving her the first name Cindy and the middle name Ella. So, Cindy Ella (Surname).
You could then call her Cinderella as a kind of nickname yourself, without having her teachers have to call it out in class and have the rest of the class laugh at her...
My little girl goes to school with a child named Cindy. Only recently have we discovered her name is Cinderella Maria *last name*. Now, if we would have never known, it wouldn't be such a big deal. If you have a personal connection to the name, go for it. If you feel she'll be teased, maybe that's not the right route for you.
As much as I'm not a fan of my name, Cynthia, I'd suggest it instead of using Cinderella.
My nick name is Cinderella (ever since I was a little girl). My nick name is Cyndi, and I used to be called Ella (because of the nick name Cinderella). So please, consider Cynthia, Cyndi/Cindy, Ella, just not Cinderella, it's an adorable nick name, but it's not right for a first name.
I like the idea, it is an important connection to you and you want to honor that. However there is the fear that she could get teased. Maybe another way to make a connection:
Cindy Ella + Last Name
Or find a way of incorporating the author of the story's last name Charles Perrault somehow. Perrault may catch on as unisex name like Harlow, Payton and Paige did (don't ask me how, but somehow they're girl names too!)
I think a lot of people won't take her seriously because of her name. I would assume that her parents just wanted to give her a princess name, and I woudn't think of the opera/musical. I don't judge people by their name, but it's just hard to imagine a Dr. Cinderella. What about Cindy or Ella?
I'd suggest calling her Cindy or Ella instead. You know in the fairytale she was called that as an insult, right? I would expect the kid to have a cruel mother or stepmother :) Even Cindy Ella would be better than just Cinderella.
I personally think Cinderella is different and unique. Why have the same old names? That is a beautiful name and you should go for it. Name your child something that you will be happy with and not regret. I wanted to name my oldest two different names and I did not and now I wished I have.
Not to be rude, but it is kind of ridiculous. Maybe just Ella--it's a variation without naming your daughter Cinderella. It would be like naming your son Batman. It's not a name that is used for anything else other than the character.

I think people would constantly associate her with Cinderella the character, and she might not be taken seriously.
Maybe you could name her after Cinderella but indirectly.
How about Eleanor Lucinda or Lucinda Eloise? You could also use another name with "el" in it for the "ella" part of the name.
Hope this helps!
