i got parts for a computer on Dec 30th and assembled it, everything was plugged and connected, when i turned on the computer the monitor does detect any display (through motherboard and graphics card) nor are there any POST beeps, the reset switch doesn't work and the pc wont turn off with the power switch, i have to do it manually,
but after careful revision ( i made sure everything was plugged in correctly) i think there is a problem with the motherboard BIOS. Power supply wise every thing is working and turning on (even power cords connected to the motherboard work), but i have no sign of the bios working. although i may be wrong and the only other component i am unsure about is the CPU.
could the CPU be faulty?
i would like to get a second opinion....
also, i ordered the motherboard on Newegg, what is the return policy on damaged items and should i contact the manufacturer of the motherboard for technical support first?
my motherboard is: GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AMD socket: AM3
Update:I know i can return it on Newegg for a replacement if the product is faulty, but does the process work.
i have made sure and everything (RAM memory, CPU, etc. is compatible with the motherboard right out of the box)
My CPU is AMD phenom ii x4 925
my RAM is 4 GB (2x 2GB) DDR3 1333

You don't sound very experienced when it comes to putting together a PC.
Firstly are all of your components compatible? Have they been installed correctly? Have you wired everything up correctly and followed the motherboard manufacturers instructions?
Without a full list of components and seeing how you have put this rig together its difficult (impossible?) to diagnose the problem.
My advice is to check everything again, ensure your component parts are designed to work together. Make sure that you have used the correct spacers for the motherboard (to ensure that nothings shorting out) and check the front panel wiring to make sure that is correct. Install the hard drives and disk drives. If the MB comes with on-board graphics do not install an additional graphics card. Finally after assuring yourself that everything should work together, reinstall the CPU (making sure its correctly aligned and you have removed the plastic protective cover) apply some heat paste and install the heat sink and fan.
Try to boot up and see what happens.
If You have no display on your monitor it usually means a problem with the graphics card or leads
first of all check your grapics card make sure it is seated properly. then check the leads from the card to the monitor, I suggest that you start from scratch remove everything from the motherboard.
check your motherboard first ensure that you have no shots in it. then using your manual connect all connections to the motherboard make sure your cmos setting are ok pins 1 &2 closed now connect your memory and cpu / fan then your sound and video cards if needed and boot up
Is the small BIOS battery in it's place? Is the BIOS jumper set correctly?
The things that cause a no post are RAM, power supply, CPU, video card, and motherboard. Disconnect or remove everything you don't need. Use a single stick of RAM and the onboard graphics. Clear the BIOS using the jumper on the motherboard. Make sure your CPU cooling fan is plugged in to the correct pins on the motherboard. Also, make sure you are not shorting out the motherboard with a metal object underneath it, like a mounting screw in the wrong hole. Now boot your computer. If it doesn't work swap out the RAM stick with a different one if you have 2 and try again. Next I would swap out the power supply (just because the lights come on does not mean it is working correctly). If it still doesn't work you should probably call Newegg.
Have you plugged the 2 x4 or 8pin pin aux 12v into the 8pin socket near the cpu.
try one stick of ram in the slot nearest to the cpu..
It is also possible that the cpu requires a newer bios revision to start up correctly if the cpu is one of the newer type .
Look on the gigabyte website for which cpu and memory will work with which bios revisions. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPU...
NOTE: to VE9A if the bios is not new enough he will get the symptoms he described even if the cpu is good.
bios should still boot even if CPU is faulty, should get that far an then crash
the mere fact u bought a motherboard from an online store, combined with this
fact plus u got nothin displaying.
If u got a spare box test it's not ur graphics card, if that's not it it's
most definitely Mobo issue
