ATI 4850
4gb DDR2-667mhz RAM
2 x 320gb SATA 2
AMD Athlon64 x2 4400 @ 2.3ghz on OEM mobo
550 watt Thermaltake PSU.
i play crysis on high @ 1680 x 1050 and get 18-30 fps. Ive seen videos of the exact same rig as mine (same RAM, same graphics), but with an intel mobo and a q6600 @ 1024 x 768 that barely gets that many fps. I dont get it. Shouldnt the q6600 outperfom my processor by a mile?????
can someone help me??? should i just get the E8400 instead??? I want a future proof processor though, for the most part. i wont have to upgrade the q6600 as fast as i will the e8400 i know. I cant afford but to buy one processor. E8400 or Q6600 and thatll be it for like 2 years. Which will last longer in the future games??
Cập nhật:nooo. i know that crysis can utilize all four cores. it is one of the first games that can.

Think of it like this, An E8400 has 3.2GHz cores and the Quad core has 2.6GHz cores. Crysis can only read two cores right? Well which processor will be faster?
2 cores @ 3.2GHz or 2 cores @ 2.6GHz?
High end dual cores are the better choice. Mine is an E2220 @ 3.8GHz OC'd
The short answer is that there are a lot of things in Crysis that go to the FPS. I'm running dual 8800GTs on a Q6700. On Very High settings certain levels of the game are silky smooth. On others, I turned some of the graphics down to Medium to keep things smooth. Also depending on what version of Crysis you're running, you'll get different framerates (patched, unpatched, etc). Also, Crysis is made to take advantage of quad core processors. When it detects a processor that isn't up to snuff, it scales back on rendering, AI, etc to keep framerates smooth. When it sees a capable processor, it scales up the amount of things it does to make the game more realistic. It's very unlikely that both games would be "the same".
All that being said, I'd say go the quad core route. I did and I'm very happy with the results. Many games coming out are designed with quad cores in mind (Crysis/SupCom/etc). That is definiately the direction computing is going.
Well just cause it's a quad core, doesn't mean it's going to be faster. You would need applications that can take advantage of a quad core, otherwise it will perform like a dual core.
yes it should outperform not get less frames maybe they are lying because at 1024x768 my 9800gtx which is neck and neck with the 4850 in most situations plays crysis start to finish on high with max motion blur Q6600 but make sure to get an aftermarket cooler 1Ghz overclock is do-able on air also try and get the G0 stepping as it has power saving features and produces less heat
