I've grown up in a family where religion is a huge part of our life. We didnt go to church, but my family is very religious, I wouldnt say theyre crazy religious but they are very religious. Sometimes the things my mother says really upsets me. She said that its wrong that Obama let gays enter the military and I asked her why does it matter? They are serving our country and they deserve as much respect as they can get. Then I told her that blacks fought for civil rights and Gays deserve to do whatever they want, I told er a long as it doesnt affect me i don't mind, let people do what they please as long as no one gets harmed in the process. Later on today she said that you cant compare gays and blacks civil rights and that you don't choose your race but you choose to be gay. I completely disagree there are plenty of people who are born being attracted to the same sex and they can't help it. I just feel like when it comes to this shes very ignorant to the topic and I always follow what the bible says about loving your neighbor as you would love yourself. I feel like maybe I'm wrong that because I am christian, i should feel the same way that she does. Do you agree or disagree??

There are many people who are not Christian who believe as your mother does. There are many others, and they are gaining as a majority, all All religions, including Christian, who have come to understand that being gay is NOT a choice, but a genetic setting. Your mother's generation had a very different view of gay people, and all you can do is to keep presenting facts to her about homosexuality. Christ never said anything about gays in that way, but he went out of his way to associate with those who were considered 'strange' or 'evil' or 'sinners' by the so-called 'moral majority' of his time. You are a better Christian (which means 'follower of the Christ') than your mother if you treat homosexuals the same way you treat anyone else.
I'm christian as well and let me tell you your mom has it very wrong. The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor just like you said so yea. By the way I'm gay to and God still loves me because he created me this way, I didn't pick to be gay why would I pick to be part of a community that gets look down at beaten denied human rights like get married and even killed? I didn't pick it I t just happened, I just decided to not have a gay active sexual life I think that might valance the sin problem lol because the bible does talk about men having sex with other man but never about being attracted to
Well I disagree with Mom and you made some valid points. But Blacks are born Black they didn't choose the pigmentation gifted to them, God did. While Gays choose to be gay, because no way Did He create man to birth babies, He created women for that purpose and to Help the Man or husband. Yes everyone has sinned and fallen short, The problem with Gays is this... they embrace sodomy(sin), something God destroyed cities over. The Bible tells sinners to repent meaning turn away and abstain from any transgressions. The Gays refuse to do this. Instead the say," I like my sin and God like me with my sin." But you determine for yourself through observation of the word of God. God Bless.
Biblically, your mom is correct. God made man and female to procreate. Even Christ said marriage is between one man and one woman. Homosexuals can't procreate and its a sin (like that of murder, adultery, lying, idolatry, etc.). If God despises sin why would He create us as a sinner? God created people with different skin pigment so that they could survive better in the different regions that they originally did. Where homosexuality is a choice that serves no purpose. Even homosexual scientist and activist admitted there's no "gay" gene. Now, God loves the person He created, He does not love their sin. That is why we need to repent and put our trust in Christ so that we may be saved from our sins.
Disagree.
Where to begin? Just because you think differently from your mother doesn't mean your wrong. I'm no expert on christianity (I'm a Wiccan for god's sake!) but people keep telling me that no matter what, as long as one believes in Jesus Christ, then you go to don't go to Hell. When does Jesus say he was against male-male sexual relations? Way I see it, one's business is their business.
Again, I don't claim to be an expert on Christianity. That's just my two cents.
Tell your mom is 2013 not 1813.
Yes, I agree!
