I worked at a restaurant for 3 months back in July-September of last year. I got a tax return this year.
The problem is, the guy that my parents got to file our taxes put my old last name that I switched from years ago when doing my taxes, instead of the one I have on I file with Social Security. I've done my FAFSA for all the colleges I applied to, and every single one won't give me any financial aid because my name on the FAFSA, which matches my SSN, is not the same as the name on my taxes.
Is there any way I can go to the IRS and have my name changed on my taxes?

the matching system of the name on the tax return and SS generally precludes such an error
I suppose one way to correct 4 yrs would be to file 1040X's correcting the name

If your return was filed electronically, this could NOT happen. The IRS uses the SSA database to verify the name. If it does not match, it kicks it back.
Go verify your name with the SSA. You may think you changed it but didn't.
The IRS will update your name.
The IRS will NOT update the tax transcript.
The tax account transcript should show the name after any update.
