I want to upgrade the RAM & video on my older computer. I'm using a HP Pavilion a6250t. With video I'm only using on board graphics because my old video card stopped completely, and I want to get more RAM to speed things up also. So, if anyone could give me suggestions to point in the direction of what to buy would be nice. Thanks.
Here are some of motherboard specs to help:
RAM:
Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
Supported DIMM types:
PC2-3200 (400 MHz)
PC2-4200 (533 MHz)
PC2-5300 (667 MHz)
non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Video:
Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 950
Up to 256MB (with 512MB or more PC memory)
Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards*

www.priceline.com and www.newegg.com are your best friends. Maybe www.ebay.com if you're comfortable with that.
That motherboard can only support up to 4GB of RAM, so keep that in mind. If you're using Windows XP, you're pretty much stuck with 3GB.
As far as the graphics cards go, keep in mind you need to have adequate power to them. That board will fit most cards, but that computer only has a 300 watt power supply, which really cramps your style. Look for cards that don't require an extra power connector or replace your power supply to something with 550 Watts or more.
