Over Thanksgiving we took a trip with out two daughters (3 and 10 months) It was supposed to be an 8 hour drive but with the kids it took about 10 1/2 hours. Be patient. Both girls did really good for the most part in the car. We brought plenty of toys and things to keep them occupied. Our 10 month old slept over half (she likes the car though) And when we stopped to eat and change diapers we let her stand and jump and do whatever not in a sitting postion to help her stretch and get some energy out.

Try putting your baby in the pack and play during naps now to get them used to it. Bring a sheet to put in it.....andd maybe something more familur. Our daughter has a blanket and stuff animal she has to sleep with. Maybe a t-shirt that you have worn for a few hours to have a comforting scent.

Vacations are hard on kids. Its not thier territory anymore. Be patient and ecpect your baby to be off a little. But they should be fine. We always expect the worse...and it has so far turned out great for us! I wish you luck.

I would certainly have one parent ride in the back seat with baby so that you can easily address any needs without distracting the driver too much. If it's not too much trouble to drive while baby normally sleeps, do that. If that's not possible, try to start your trip over nap time. You may be surprised at how long your baby does sleep!

Certainly do have your little one take naps in the travel crib for a few days first, maybe even try it overnight a few days before your trip. My daughter adapted to hers very well this way -- we don't see a difference at all anymore.

Plan on having lots of stops along the way. If possible, plan out ahead of time where all the rest stops/clean places to stop are.

Try traveling at night time when your baby is asleep if that's possible. If your baby wakes up, make sure you have food and drink available for the baby so he doesn't get hungry. Bring some toys to keep him occupied when awake, or maybe some nice kids music or baby songs.

Also leave extra time to change diapers...

take tylenol and ear plugs and those sorts of things just in case and also put some blankets on the pack n play before laying him down so it can be more comfy for him. just prepare a safety kit. and thats it try to make him comfy on the trip

I would suggest that you sit in the back with him when it is not your turn to drive. That way you do not have to pull over everytime he gets fussy.

Have him take naps in his pack n play for the next few days so that he has time to get used to it.

If baby sleeps at night why not drive all night?
