This summer, my family and I are renting a house in Vermont, and I am worried about traveling with my hedgehog! we will be staying in a hotel over night, and I was wondering if it was ok to just set up the play pen for the hedgie with her wheel and food...also, i wouldnt mind some travel tips!
Update:oh, we are driving! it is about 15-17 hour drive.

They can get carsick, usually at the beginning of the trip, so be prepared for that (the sound of a vomiting hedgehog is heartbreaking to hear).
Good travel carriers are the small pop-up kennels for dogs at Target:

They provide plenty of room for a wheel and all, and collapse very small when travelling.
Take some of your 'home' water with you for the hedgehog. A 1 liter canteen should be enough for the whole trip.
Make sure she gets lots of love and attention! A lot of hedgehogs don't like the stress of travel, so the most you can do to keep her 'normal' routine the better.
They will be fine. Are you going on a plane or driving?
