you'll be an addition to the number of young pretty women here in dubai, You'll be fine here, people are friendly and lifestyle is blessed with freedom.
I agree with Bren. Nothing to worry about because you are a small-blonde-american-21 year old women. What do you think how many of "you" live here?
Pamela Anderson visited Dubai and nothing happened to her. (Just kidding). Dubai is a cosmopolitan city and you can feel safer here (as long as you do not try to jaywalk the streets) than in any American big city thanks to the low crime rate.
If you plan your trip right, get informations etc in advance, you'll have a blast. Dubai offers very many things to see and to do. Just surf the net and look for the websites of: Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall, Ibn Butta Mall, Mercato Mall, etc. Then Bastakia and Dubai Museum, Gold and spice souq. (Do not visit the souqs on a Friday!)
Just follow one easy rule: beach wear at the beach and "normal clothes" anywhere else and you'll be fine. Going out to a night club, a bar or disco you can wear your normal disco clothes. When visiting the souqs more moderate clothing is advised.
Otherwise just follow the same safty rules you may do at home. Do not take a ride with a stranger, don't get drunk and loose control, etc.
this reminds me of the movie legally blonde . I mean try dying your hair and see if it makes any difference ;)
Just kidding. If you suspect the motives of any person simply find the closest gathering of people and pretend to be with them , he will get scared and leave. Or you can call the police on 999.
A good idea to take a friend with you until you are familiar with place.
Hi Morgan... I want to travel from the US as well. Where do you live in US? I'm in California...I would love to travel with someone but it's so hard to find people in US who want to travel to the middle east. Let me know when you are planning on going...maybe we could travel together...it's always safer to travel with someone I think...
it is no problem at all as long as u dress modestly and like everyone else stick to the rules. u may get attention from men but they are mostly pretty harmless. im blonde/uk and lived there 12 yrs with no problem.
