I am 14 years old. Started my period back in March and have a swim job. Back in March I tried using a tampon, got it caught around my hymen and created a rip in it, that's what the doctor told me. 8 months down the line, my period has fallen onto the same day. I am not close to my mum about these matters, so went to the doctor again after trying to use another tampon. It wouldn't go in and it hurt. The doctor gave me some KY Jelly, and have tried again but still no luck. I don't know what to do and in less than 12 hours i am swimming again!. Where do i insert it. The instructions on the tampon box aren't clear. Please help me!
Update:14 years old, Scared of tampons after previous incident

Just relax - read below about types of hymen (important for tampon insertion) and read steps how t insert the tampon
Inserting tampons can be tricky first off especially if you hymen is still intact. I found that inserting it with your index finger whilst in a squatted position or with one foot on the toilet seat the most comfortable way. Close your eyes and breath in and out deeply a couple times and try to make your muscles relax. Use your fingers to find the right spot. Half the problem may be that your tightening your muscles involuntarily expecting pain. Use the Ky jelly around your vaginal opening and just inside to help ease the tampon in. Applicators can also he helpful if you want to give them a try. If it feels a little awkward leave it a while as it will usually settle in place with in a minute of so. If it hurts remove the tampon and try inserting again. It really is practice. Using a mirror to understand your anatomy better can also be helpful.
Change your tampon every 4 hours as the box instructs NOT every 8 hours as advised above. Please read the box instructions about Toxic Shock Syndrome (TTS).
Use the smallest tampon you have first. Wash your hands. Sit on the toilet with your legs spread. Pull apart the lips of your vagina and feel for the opening. You'll know it's the opening when you get some blood on your fingers. Push the tampon up until it gets to the middle part (where the two plastic inserts meet) and then push the bottom insert in until both inserts are in your hand. The string should be hanging out and it shouldn't be TOO uncomfortable. But if it feels like it's coming out then you did something wrong.
The only way to get used to tampons is just to keep practicing.
Im 15 and ive been there. calm down. Tampons aren't scary. Once you have got them down, they are a lot better than pads. Try using a tampon on your heaviest flow day, that will make it the easiest. Before you use the tampon wet the applicator (to make it easier for you on your first time). Insert the tampon in the third hole. Make sure you are calm and relaxed. If your not the tampon won't go in. Once you have it don't wear it longer than 8 hours. Good Luck!!!
ok! do no longer situation, I had diverse situation and confusion as quickly as I first began utilising tampons to boot! that's advisable to attempt the small length, there are all categories of manufacturers obtainable! you only have been given to test with some distinctive varieties... approximately putting it in, i'd talk on your mom? in basic terms through fact i'm specific it could be greater handy explaining it in individual! What helped me plenty have been the instructions contained in the field! Haha i desire this helped you a touch(: Oh and p/s i like the playtex tampons, they arrive in fairly some sizes and so as that they have got playtex game tampons which i think of would be precise for you! good success female!
It took me TWO hours to learn how to put a tampon in, I know exactly how you feel (except, I was 18 at the time, lol)
You squat down and feel around, trial and error love. When you find the hole, you should know it, because the tampon slips in. Make sure to do it with the lite days tampon first (I did it with a super, when NOT on my period, oh the pain!)
lubricate the tampon with the KY if it doesn't work. Your 'hole' should be further back, like where your butt begins. That's the only way I could explain it to make it sound easier. lol
I don't want to sound pervy. lol
I know this is going to sound really brute, but it helped me. Take your fingers and find the vagina opening, and put some of the KY on your fingers, and slip one or two fingers in first, kind of loosening yourself a little. Then, get the smallest tampons you can find ((usually, tampax Pearl... and by the way, plastic applicators are so, SO much easier to put in and so, SO much less painful. SO much less painful.)) and slip it in, slowly. Try propping one of your feet on the tub or the toilet, so that you have easier access. Then, push the applicator in, and remove the applicator. The cotton part should be left inside of you, but the plastic part comes out ((you probably know this.)). Bless your heart. Pitty us girls for what we must go through!
God bless!
First make sure the tampons are the right size (thin or regular since your young and then insert it into your vagina as far as it will go, push the plunger and remove the plastic part. The string should be sticking out now. Then just remember to take it out within 8 hours. Good luck.
You should be using the lite tampons which are the smallest, they're best for starting out. Just relax and take your time, there is only one hole that the tampon should go through and that is your vaginal canal. Take your time, don't stress, take out a mirror so you can see what your doing. You'll get it right.
Just keep trying and trying, don't panic and stress and you should be able to figure it out in less than 12 hours! Good luck! And if it still doesn't work -- can't go swimming...
