Newton said that gravity acted instantaneously, but after Einstein realized that nothing could go faster than light, he knew that was wrong. Imagine that the sun suddenly disappears. So it was then that Einstein knew gravity did not effect objects instantaneously.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can travel faster than the speed of light.
Gravity is the universe's weakest force, but on scales as large as planetary diameters, it can appear as quite strong!

The effects of gravity are not instantaneous. They propagate at the speed of light.
It is due to action at a distanceand the effect of gravity does not travel with velocity of light or any other velocity.
in the general relativity model, gravity propagates at the speed of light. in the newtonian model gravity is described as infinite.
