My 2 year old nephew has a Sesame Street camera. His pictures look better than these.
Why do you NEED our compensation? If photography is just a hobby for you then just enjoy it. Don't wait for someone to tell you you're amazing and you should pursue it as a career.
PLUS... How can you use a point and shoot camera and ask how your photography is? It's not how good of a photographer you are.. It's how well you can aim. And push one button.
Sorry. I'm just REALLY tired of these "How do you like my pictures!?!?!?" questions.
Whoa dude! Amazing use of changing the lighting and experimenting with different shades and colors! Photography is all about experimenting and seeing the different angles in life, making some things that wouldn't normally be noticed stand out. I especially think images 3, 6, and 7 demonstrate this. Don't be afraid to keep experimenting! There's always gonna be people who don't like your work, but who cares? Keep it up, it looks great!
Quick tip: you want to pick a main focus for your image and work it around that, unless you're doing landscapes. Good luck and I hope you get into your class!!
I think it's GREAT you are getting into photography and enjoying it.
I think your abstracts show good potential - you're beginning to look for pieces of the world and examine them as images that 'stand on their own two feet'. So, in a photographic sense you are developing an 'eye' for it, which some people never really achieve. One person on these boards a lot (Annafur) is really talented in this area and I'd suggest you study her work for some inspiration - as a young photographer she's a great example.
If you want to get ahead of your class take a look here... ; )

Photography has to be learned - even with an eye, to get the best out of the subject you need to know about lighting and exposure etc. Good luck!
1-I like it...It's simple....almost abstract. The dead center horizon works well in this photo. Next time try putting something in the foreground to give it a greater sense of depth.
2-Kinda boring. I don't like the dead center horizon in this one. It would have worked better if the sky was interesting, but it's not. It's a normal midday sky. Take this same picture again....but this time, wait for sunrise or sunset.
3-I really like it! GREAT angle and the colors really pop. This picture makes me want to go to the beach. Well done!
4-Kinda boring again....it's sand on some steps. I also don't like the shadows on the left...they make the photo uneven.
5-I like the idea....I like how the water is washing away half of the word, it adds interest. Unfortunately, the composition is bad as well as the lighting. Like I said about the other picture...wait for good lighting (dawn or dusk is always nice). Cool idea though, try different angles next time too.
6-I don't like this one....it's just an over-edited photo of a sign.
7-This one has nice B&W contrast...it's a shame it wasn't something more interesting. Before you snap, ask yourself if this is going to be interesting to someone other than yourself. I'm not trying to be mean, really, all I mean is that you want your photos to grab the viewers attention immediately. In order to do that, it has to be something the viewer has never seen before. Ya know?
8-It's blurry. Good rule of thumb, if it's blurry, delete it, no matter how good the rest of it is.
EDIT: Don't listen to grouches like the first answerer.....those people seem to forget that we were all, at some point, BEGINNERS!! No one comes out of their Mommy's womb perfect photographers. I think your photos were good....you just need some more practice.
First and foremost, let me apologize for my fellow "human beings" who find it satisfying to degrade a child who is attempting to learn. Sadly, they appear to be "adults" who should know better.
It looks like you are having fun with your camera and that's what the majority of people in this world do, have fun and record memories. When you get into photography class you will learn what makes good composition, what makes a subject interesting and how to control your camera rather than let the camera control you. I think you will find it a challenge and enjoyable. It will take work, as any skill would. When you receive constructive criticism, do not get discouraged but use it for improvement. You will find that you will cling to some images simply because they have an emotional meaning to you...learn to separate them from the technically good images for class.
Hold on to these images and after your classes are over look them over with new eyes. I would be interested in knowing what YOU thought of them then.
Enjoy!!!
Actually a two year old can take snapshots as my daughter does.
The point here was that most of the pictures look like snapshots and seem to lack composition or intention.
There are two that caught my eye: NYC post sign and the B&W cat with the colorful band.
May I suggest a book from Brian Peterson "Understanding Exposure"?
Good luck!
Most of them are just snapshots but you have a good eye for photography. just take your time and look a little harder. I really like the one with the cat eye and the green band. Take you time and try different angles.
i think the first three are your strongest. they sort of answer the question how do i see the world? your answer would be in layers. the beach image is a fine example. i think if you focus more on showing the world how you see the world, you will be more successful. and seeing it in layers is not a bad thing, i have seen many photographers with your same view. myself, i see the world in repetition, sort of like mailboxes or power lines.
For starters your good, I like the photo up close to the shore with the water.
