Typically, your high school will keep your transcript for up to a year after you've graduated. After that point, your grade transcript is typically sent to what we refer to in my area as "the district office." This is the central office that overseas all the elementary, junior and high schools in my area. For a quick answer to your question, phone your old high school (hopefully it hasn't changed names since you went there - this happens). Ask to be transferred to the person who handles grade transcripts. Explain that you attended the school, what year(s) you were there or graduated and then ask them where your record is warehoused. If they have it there - great! Be prepared to speak with several people before you find out where it's being stored. My guess is that it's at the district office and you'll have to request a copy sent from the district office to the college you're considering attending. You should also know that, depending on the college, some may make you take a placement exam (because you've been out of school for 30 years). Don't fret! I said "some" college's make you do this. Either way, I am glad for the opportunity to write to you today.
