hCG levels?
My hcg level was 1813 yesterday and 2152 today. Is that a good rise? My doctor was unavalible, but the nurse still gave me the resaults.

I am about 5 weeks pregnant and I went to the doctor today and got and ultrasound. They couldn't find no sign of a baby I even tested positive with the test they gave me. They want me to go back tomorrow and take some blood work to test my hormone level. I just need peace of mind... Do you think my baby is playing hide in seek or no big enough to be seen yet or my body is going crazy??

Levels of hCG in pregnancy
Human Chorionic Ganadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that can be detected in the urine and blood of humans. This hormone increases during pregnancy so it is common to measure the rise in level using Home Pregnancy Tests ( or HPTs, which measure hCG levels in the urine) or a hCG Beta test (which measures hCG levels in the blood serum). The hCG Beta is much more sensitive then the Home Pregnancy Test and you can usually get a positive result much earlier with a blood test than with the HPTs.
Usually the reference values for hCG Beta are as follows:
Men: less than 5.0 mIU/ml - Normal
Women: Non -pregnant - less than 5.0 mIU/ml - Negative/normal
*Borderline - Between 5.0 to 25.0 mIU/ml (you could be pregnant)
*Positive - Higher than 25.0 mIU/ml
(*) These are values within the first week and few days after conception.
When you are pregnant the level of hCG increases and usually doubles every two to three days. It then reaches a maximum level by the second or third month of pregnancy, followed by a decrease occurring in the third trimester.
Here are typical hCG Beta values in pregnant women up to 22 days post-retrieval (DPR) or days post-ovulation (DPO).

Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.
Yes, this is completley normal. Your HcG levels will rise the most in your first trimester (weeks 1- 13). Sounds great, and congrats! Are you excited?
Generally speaking, your number will double every 48-72 hours. You are doubling at a rate of 97.05 hours.

What does this mean? Probably nothing. Most betas are done 48 hours apart. Was yours done exactly 24 hours apart? Most likely your doctor will redo your beta check. How far along are you? Number doubling slow as you go further into your pregnancy.
Please dont get scared, some doctors dont even do beta blood tests anymore...
