To find out HCG levels you need to have blood drawn and then call the lab in a day or so and get your results they use it determine pregnancy of course the higher the levels the farther along you are. they have always checked it well atleast they have for the past 10 years for a fact lol i know from a miscarriage i had them do the test and my HCG levels were rising and then at 3 months the HCG levels started to drop and then not even 2 days later the HCG levels had dropped almost completely so they do use it to monitor early pregnancies with women . hope this helps you out good luck.

HCG is the hormone your body produces when you are pregnant. This is what a pregnancy test detects to see if you are pregnant. Urine tests, such as hpt's, only detect if the hcg hormone is in your body. Blood tests will measure the amount of hcg hormone in your body. When you become pregnant and your body starts producing the hcg hormone, the amount of hcg will double about every 2-3 days. When women take an hpt too early, they can get a negative result even if they are pregnant because the hcg level (amount) is not enough to be detected by an hpt yet.

Sometimes if a woman gets a faint positive hpt result, her OB may have her take a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. Or, when women take hcg injections when ttc, the OB will have them take a blood test to measure the amount of hcg, and then a second test in 2 days to make sure that the hcg level is rising properly to confirm pregnancy. HCG from injections when ttc will diminish day by day, it's only when a women becomes pregnant that will allow the HCG hormone to produce and the levels to rise.

Your dr will draw blood to check your HCG levels. They are supposed to double every 72hrs, and if they do that indicates the pregnancy is progressing...if they dont double or go down then there is a chance that your miscarrying.

Its nothing new, they've always checked for it. You just hear about it more now because infertility and trying to concieve are not such a hush hush topic anymore.

Most dr's will only check your HCG regularly if your high risk...I had mine checked every 3 days until I was almost 6 weeks along with my daughter (I was high risk). But with my son they only checked them once, and that was to confirm my pregnancy.

i personally have never had it done just a simple pee on a stick + or - !!!

im pleased Ive not had it done because it seems very confusing!!!

im in the UK so maybe they do things different here, if i have ever been tested for hcg Ive never been told the results and they are not on my blood results in my notes!!!
