Your best bet is to contact coaches of the teams in your area, let them know the positions you play, and ask them if they would take a look at you. (And by the way, everybody is looking to improve at catcher and short, so I think you have a very good shot!) I think the coaches you contact will be very likely to look at you, because just by you seeking them out and calling them, you are showing that you're motivated and are driven to accomplish what you want - which is exactly what coaches are looking for on the field!
Here is a link to the tournaments and teams playing in your area.
Click on the yellow boxes under "Teams" to see each team's city and their manager listed. You can find the phone number for the coach in a few ways:
1. Do a facebook search for the team and/or coach - many teams have facebook pages and you can probably contact the coach directly through that.
2. Contact Jeff Moose, the USSSA director for Central PA, and ask him for the coach's number for specific teams, or for a list of teams in your area and the manager's numbers. He is the director for the tournaments there, and he should know all the coaches. Mr. Moose's cell number is 717-465-1716.
3. Google search the name of the team and their city. They may have a team website with contact info.
