Hi all, I recently became infected with Security Tool and with the help of you kind people on this forum I deleted it. However it has left my computer in a right mess, firstly I am getting the following message when I boot up, "The programme can't start because rtl120.bpl is missing from your computer.Try re-installing the programme to fix the problem" I have tried to re-install the programme as suggested but without success. I have bought software e.g. Recover my Files, Advanced Systems Care, and have tried Windows 7 Recovery to no avail. Secondly, my computer turns itself off after about two hours and reboots. Some of my keyboard letters do not correspond e.g. when i want @ ihave to press" and vice versa.The Os Iam running is Windows 7.
I have had enough and want to change back to either XP Professional or Vista but I don't know how to. I would appreciate any help, but would need a kind soul to "walk me through it. Thanx in advance to all who are able and willing to help. NB I have the disc for Vista but would have to link my wife's computer to get XP.

Windoze is junk... get Linux, it's a LOT better (and it's Free). Fedora is the best Linux.
Firstly try and remember what was on your computer when you bought it, was it Windows XP or Windows Vista? Did it come preinstalled on the machine or did you buy it separately?
If you bought it preinstalled you may have been provided with a disc incase you need to reinstall it and start afresh. Or there will have been a function on the computer itself which would have allowed you to reformat without having a disc. The best thing to do in this case is ring up the customer services for the manufacturer of the laptop to find out i.e. HP, Dell, etc.
If you bought the Windows version separately and have some kind of proof that it exists, like the box, a receipt or product key etc, and say you have lost the disc then you can ring Microsoft to ask if they can send you a replacement so you can reinstall.
If you have the disc but no product key, then again ring Microsoft and they can generate on for you.
Also chances are if you had Windows XP on your machine before and have now upgraded to Windows 7, your machine will not be able to cope with it as well because of the advancements. If you get Windows 7 my recommendation is to buy a new computer first and then install.
Windows 7 is the best operating system out of the lot. It is unfortunate that you have been infected, it happens, but do not dispair. You need not worry too much about the settings that were changed. Your keyboard for example is just a regional setting that was changed, either in the registry or a normal settings change in the control panel.
The simplest and most painless solution would be a clean install. I will assume that you have your windows 7 disk with you? If you do, then simply do a clean install instead of a recovery. I am unaware of the way in which you were helped to remove the "security tool" rogue software. I do tier 2 tech support for AVG as well as desktop and corporate tech support and have removed it along with it's variants on numerous occasions without issues or complications.

Yeah looks like your operating system has been corrupted in the system files. You would need to reformat your hard drive and restore your computer to the settings that it came when you first bought it. Do you have a restore CD and did your computer come with any Windows CD. Even if you change back to XP or Vista, I doubt that it will boot correctly.

Windows 7 is a 64 bit OS (Operating Systems). Most likely your current computer components does not support 64 bit OS. Windows Vista and XP were designed for 32 bit OS.
I recommend that you re-install the original OS in your computer. If you would like to run Windows 7, you need to purchase a computer that is Windows 7 compatible.

I definitely recommend GNU/Linux. A great free (as in freedom AND cost) operating system that has only free (freedom) software is Trisquel GNU/LInux (www.trisquel.info/en). I use it as my main computer. I can also recommend gNewSense (www.gnewsense.org). All free (as in freedom)!
if u hav a blank dvd and a dvd drive, then get imgburn, and i can mail u the iso file (a 3.5 gb file) and u can install windows xp.
btw i still hav 2 unopened copies of windows xp if u want me to mail u a copy.
