My son did that! It was frustrating. Feeding time is a comforting, warm time. He gets to snuggle up to mommy and what is better than that???!!! Try softly tickling under his chin when he starts dozing..it worked for me.
Sounds about par for the course. We have a special song that in the beginning I sang to him every time he had a bottle. Now he is almost conditioned that as soon as he hears that song he starts eating again, even if he doesn't wake up all the way. Other tricks are to burp often, change positions, let the baby get cool while eating (not cold though but don't keep him all warm and cozy), tickle the feet, tickle the cheek or chin, make a loud noise, etc...
When my kids were babies they would fall asleep during feeding all the time, so much so that I had to keep waking them up to finish eating. Then when the baba was done very much awake.
Yes, my daughter always fell asleep when I was feeding her, I think she was just all cozy and relaxed. drinking the bottle sooths them, so likely when it is all gone they wake up and still want something to suck on.
Oh yeah! its more frustrating than anything else. just think of it this way.. He's a relaxed kid! Food energizes him! (he probably falls asleep being in your arms. I had the worst time TRYING to breastfeed because one my son got in my arms he was OUT! good luck
