Ok so there's a girl at school I know, she's been trying to hang out with my group of friends for awhile now. Occasionally she buys my smoothies and stuff. I thought it was weird but whatever, free food. She told me she liked me about a month back; turned her down gently. She still hangs out by us in the hallways and tries to be part of the conversation. I was talking about her to someone yesterday and they said I was using her? Am I?

I would say no; using her would be pulling her along on a metephoric string, having her buy you things for a little tug in return.
