I'm having my birthday party in a week, I'm thinking of some kind of dance party. Does anyone have any ideas on what we could do reguaring games and ...things to do?
If it's just for girls hire a bellydancer and have little mini lessons in bellydancing! This can be a lot of fun and young girls seem to jump at the opportunity to (ughhh, I can't believe i'm going to say it) dance.... like... Shakira! (must now wash out mouth with bleach). Learning some bellydance moves can give young girls some confidence and help them feel good about their bodies not to mention the fun you can have themeing your party into a 1001 nights tale. Games to play... have a contest where you all vote who can bellydance the best (after having had the mini lessons, of course). Who can tell the best story (in the tradition of Sheherazad you could just do continuing story so you each add on a tale) which you could all vote for the best. Of course for these contests you should have some sort of prizes to give away. I don't know what you and your friends like but some common ideas are stickers, candy, cool pens/pencils, lip gloss, chapstick, etc... pick something you and your friends like. You could watch movies based on the whole arabian thing like Aladdin, 1001 Nights, A kid in Aladdin's Palace, the Thief of Baghdad, Road to Morocco, Casblanca, anything in that genre. You could make up questions about what kinds of guys you like and make a who's your ideal sultan quiz with funny answers based on certain points, you all dress up in costumes and vote for the best bellydance costume. Serve shish kebab, tabouli, and hummos. You would have to make your own but you could play pin the turban on the sultan game(like pin the tail on the donkey. Just get creative with it!
We did this game at camp, two people go at a time, and you turn off the lights, and put them on different sides with someone in the middle. Then you take a flashlight and shine it on one person like a spotlight, the person in the middle hums a song, but like screws it up. (Ex. Yankee Doodle, youd be like dum dum dum dum dum dum dum duuuummmm) And while the spotlights on the person they have to do whatever crazy moves they can think of. You can play it like pick a winner between the two people up there and the winner keeps playing till someone beats them and whoever wins the most times gets a prize. Or on Wild N Out you can divide your party guests in half, and play like they did where somebody calls out a name for a dance move like Fish Out of Water, and somebody has make up a move for it. And who ever comes up with the most cool ones wins. That's all I could think of....
Personally, I suggest against a dance party. A majority of the time dance parties are very likely to fail...or at least there will be very little dancing.
but if anything, it depends on your friends on what kinda party you hold. It's your choice
